Jean Besnard was a leading figure of French ceramic art in the interwar period and was known for his deeply experimental glazes and architectural forms. Active primarily in the 1920s-1930s, Besnard pushed boundaries with surface texture, often incising or pitting his works to catch light in unexpected ways.

This rare ceramic table lamp dates to the 1930s and exemplifies Besnard’s fascination with form and tactility. Its soft ovoid silhouette is punctuated with a subtle geometric motif and a glaze that captures the irregularity that defined his best work.

The lamp is fully rewired and ready for use and bears the maker's signature.
